WE CARE *
We Care is a non-profit, community-based agency established in 1989. We provide year-round, emergency assistance to low-income families and individuals. We Care strives to keep families safely housed and provide financial assistance to aid in the prevention of these individuals from becoming homeless. We Care takes pride in their year-round rental/mortgage assistance program. We Care is run by hard working and dedicated volunteers, full-time Case-Manager and Executive Director. We Care is primarily a homeless prevention program . Clients of We Care are assisted with food from our pantry. We also give out on an as needed basis items such as diapers, formula, clothes, and hygiene items. Our case manager issues bus passes and gas vouchers to assist clients in getting to job interviews, shelter programs, and doctor appointments. We help clients reunite with families and relocate for pending jobs. On occasion, We Care has paid to get a car repaired for a client to get to a job, purchased a uniform to secure a confirmed job or paid for long distance phone calls to families or prospective employers. We assist in the payment of utility bills when a shut-off notice has been issued. We Care furnishes the funds to have prescriptions filled for special medical needs. On occasion, We Care helps clients with temporary lodging while awaiting acceptance into a transitional program. One of the most important responsibilities of our agency is to utilize our vast resources of referrals. Whether trying to get a battered woman into a shelter or helping a single parent apply for public assistance, our volunteers and staff take advantage of county, private or city run programs that are available.
PRECIOUS LIFE SHELTER *Precious Life Shelter provides residential supportive services program to adult, pregnant homeless women on a first come first serve basis. The program allows a woman to come into a living environment that offers a nurturing atmosphere and enables her to connect with other partners to assist in the areas where we as a shelter do not have a specific program. Like after school tutoring and play time for other children she may be reunifying within our program. Resources to meet the required community service a resident might need to be done at one of the other sites of our collaborative partners. Sharing the counseling services to make sure all residents have their emotional needs meet by professionals is one asset of being a partner in this great collaborative. Women come to the shelter and then are wrapped into a collective of partners that only want the best outcomes without duplicating services to make this small community one of the richest in the County of services available by working as partners.
THE YOUTH CENTER *
The Youth Center (Los Alamitos Youth Center, Inc.) was established in 1952 to serve the growing needs of youth during their out-of-school time. It provides an array of free and fee-based social, recreational and educations programs for young people between the ages of 2 and 18.COMITE DEL AMOR *

FOOD FINDERS
Food Finders is a 21 year old multi-regional, green food bank that has rescued 80 million pounds of food. They stop food from being wasted by collecting excess food from over 400 merchant donors and transporting it to 265 nonprofit agencies in LA and Orange Counties. With a small staff of 12 they provide an average of 50,000 meals a day and give the community an opportunity to participate in the battle against hunger and poverty through volunteerism and donations. HEART OF THE CITY
Heart of the City is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to providing food and clothing to needy people primarily in Orange County, California. Because we are all unpaid volunteers, more than 95% of all donations go directly to program services. During our two distribution weekends per month, we provide staples, fresh produce and vegetables and adult and children's clothing to more than 400 families each month.
BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF CYPRESS
The Boys & Girls Club of Cypress was founded in 1974.The organization has grown and thrived and enjoys an excellent reputation in the community as a safe, positive, enriching environment for children to learn and grow. We now have two locations and serve an average of 200 children a day throughout the school year and summer. Our membership will exceed 1000 this year. The mission of the organization is to inspire and empower all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. We do this through a combination of programs focusing on academic enrichment, character development, leadership development, and healthy lifestyles. Our programs engage community members as mentors and families as active participants in the growth and development of their children. The city of Cypress provides our facility and in 2008 funded a complete remodel of the building. The Cypress School District is a key partner in our program design and implementation. We work closely with educators to design activities that link with the curriculum and enrich the academic success of our kids. We are a national affiliate of Kids Included Together (KITS) and provide a wonderful full-inclusion program for our members who have special needs. Our values include: Maximizing our resources to ensure maximum impact on the lives of our kids; Inclusion and support for all kids; High-quality programs at low or no cost to families; A professional, well-trained staff; and Community partnerships to provide resources and referrals to help families in need. CANCER SUPPORT FOUNDATION
In 1981, a coalition of local physicians and laypeople formed The Cancer Support Foundation to provide non-medical programs for local patients facing a diagnosis of cancer. For over 25 years it has provided thousands of individuals and family members with vital services ranging from in-hospital visits by trained volunteers offering information and resources, to support groups that include Breast Cancer Support, Caring & Coping (a group for patients and their family members), and Strong & Healthy (an exercise class for women in treatment). In addition, Cancer Support Foundation often provides practical support such as transportation to medical appointments and temporary help with living expenses. A new program for men diagnosed with prostate cancer is currently in the formation process. In a recent development Cancer Support Foundation has accepted membership in Partnership4Solutions Family Resource Center which will significantly expand services to clients. As successful medical treatments for cancer have expanded, so has the need and demand for the programs provided by the Cancer Support Foundation. All services are provided free of charge and developing the resources necessary to fund them is a constant challenge. The Cancer Support Foundation is dependent on the generosity of others to provide those resources that are necessary to cover the costs of program delivery. Its fundraising activities include Race on the Base at the Joint Forces Training Base, Seal Beach 5K-10K Run and annual Casino Nights and Theater Nights. To this array of funding sources they have added an annual Community Support Campaign to solicit pledges of support from individuals and businesses.
GRATEFUL HEARTS
Grateful Hearts exists to distribute food and clothing to those struggling or in times of crisis within our community and surrounding communities. We assist many outside agencies by providing furniture and household necessities to help their clients get off the streets and set up housekeeping.
LESTONNAC FREE CLINIC
The Mission of the Lestonnac Free Clinic is to ensure that there are no closed doors for those seeking primary healthcare at our clinic in Orange County. With no county hospital or public primary health care system in Orange County, Lestonnac Free Clinic is acutely aware of how critical the shortage of affordable health service is. We recognize that low-income patients are often forced to make the difficult choice between paying a $10 healthcare co-payment or applying the money toward rent, food, and other necessities. Our 30 year history of providing free healthcare service to those in need both alleviate the patient's stress of having to make this kind of decision and increases the efficiency of local hospitals. For this reason, the clinic continues to expand our volunteer pool.
LOS ALAMITOS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Los Alamitos Unified School District provides educational services for children pre-kindergarten through 12 th grade. The District is composed on 6 elementary, 2 middle and 2 high schools with a service area of Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, Seal Beach and Sunset Beach while nearly 25% of its students are transfers from outside districts. The Los Alamitos School District is continually rated as one of the best districts in the state.
