I work with those who are having difficulty or trouble in relationships or in relating to a difficult person. You will find me easy to talk with as together we find the healing solutions. I will encourage you as I walk beside you to systematically discover the answers that you already have within. I will not force or push but gently challenge you to become your best. This journey of counseling will have a beginning and an end. We will be a team every step of the way. You will find the help you are looking for and actively seeking. Let's get started!

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps us explore our thinking, feelings and the actions we take based on those thoughts and feelings. Emotional Focused Therapy looks at how we interact with people based on a pattern we learned in our family of origin. Knowing ourself better helps us find our answers and allows us to experience true joy.

I also help couples address patterns in their relationship that may not be giving them the connection and contentment they desire. I gently guide each member of the couple to understand how and why they have come to issues that seem impassable. Together we move through the difficulties towards healing and renewal.

I enjoy adventures and travel with my family. This includes visits to National Parks and short get-aways up or down the California coast. I also enjoy the wind in my face when riding my road bike. Keeping active helps me refocus to tackle a new day.

I offer both in-person and teletherapy sessions.

I believe you’re here for a reason, and that God has a purpose for you. Depression, anxiety, marital issues, eating disorders, and many other problems, keep us from living full lives. I became a therapist because I have a passion for helping people who are hurting, and want more out of life. I’ve been married for 17 years, and I know that marriage can take a lot of hard work. It can also be a joy. During couples’ therapy, I focus on building connection while resolving problems. Nobashing allowed. Together we will find hope and healing.

When life is hard or you feel stuck, therapy is often the beginning of healing and change. My own introduction to therapy began as a teenager struggling with depression and it completely changed the trajectory of my life. I found healing and learned my purpose was to do the same for others. As a person of faith, I believe in fighting for people, and I believe doing so looks like being seen, heard, and unconditionally esteemed. As we work together I look forward to providing a safe place to explore and process life's challenges, seek more productive lives and satisfying relationships, and discover the skills and resources needed to master them. I'm excited to begin this journey with you!

I work with individuals, couples, and families of all ages, backgrounds, and values. My experience extends to depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, grief, and spiritual formation.

My passion is to walk alongside you in your journey, supporting you as you navigate the challenges that bring you to therapy. I deeply value you and the uniqueness of your story. My clinical experience includes working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I primarily work from a relational psychodynamic framework, integrating principles of attachment theory when they align with my clients’ needs. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, offering practical tools to help challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviors.

Before becoming a therapist, I lived and worked cross-culturally with my husband and son. These experiences have fostered a profound compassion for those in ministry and for third culture kids. It is my prayer that God would use me as a source of healing and joy for those I meet. As Proverbs 27:17 reminds us, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Justin Bain – Los Alamitos

justin

Hello there! My name is Justin, and my vision in life is to help people understand and be transformed by the fact that they are precious, valuable, and loved. Whether through storytelling, asking questions, or use of art and analogies, I love to bring new perspective into people’s lives to better understand the different backgrounds each person comes from and guide them towards the various dreams they are striving towards.

While I enjoy celebrating the exciting victories this world offers, I also understand that life comes with many challenges and confusions, and in response also create space to sit in these moments with others. I believe that when we face difficult situations and words escape us, human connection and patient conversation can provide a space for healing. If you feel like you are in a time of life where you are dealing with something that is too much to handle on your own, I would love for you to reach out to me so we can find a time to connect and work towards helping in this moment.
